Girdwood is an ideal home base location to explore Prince William Sound and the Kenai Peninsula. This historic town is nestled in the Chugach Forest and is surrounded by spectacular mountains and the breathtaking Turnagain Arm.

Some of the activities in our area are touring Prince William Sound by kayak or tour boat, hiking the historic Iditarod Trail, or one of the many other trails in the Girdwood valley, taking the tram up Mt. Alyeska to get an bird’s eye view from the top of the mountain, or enjoying the bore tides and beluga whales along Turnagain Arm. Our area also sports white water rafting, paragliding, flightseeing, river rafting, salt and fresh water fishing, glacier dog mushing, viewing tidewater glaciers in Prince William Sound, mountain climbing and biking. Girdwood’s mountains, with their hanging glaciers and wildflowers are a photographer’s dream.

Girdwood also has many excellent restaurants, something for everyone’s taste, whether it be fine steaks and fresh seafood or burgers and fries.
